Towers Duo: Valotel GLT-Urban and Philippe Stark set in a hotel complex




While the work of the tower project Duo, designed by Jean Nouvel, started at the end of may 2017 in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, the grouping Valotel, GLT-Urban and designer Philippe Starck have signed a lease with Ivanhoe Cambridge, a real estate subsidiary of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. They will establish a hotel complex at the top of the tower Duo 2, high of 122 metres.
According to the newspaper Les Echos, August 8, 2017, Valotel, franchise history AccorHotels, GLT-Urban and the designer Philippe Starck, won the competition launched by the developer and developer Ivanhoé Cambridge to install a hotel complex at the summit of one of the towers Duo in Paris. The work of this large-scale project could be officially launched, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, on may 18, 2017, in the presence of the architect, Jean Nouvel, Pritzker Prize 2008 and Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of the capital.

 

In details, the consortium made up of Valotel, GLT -the group of Laurent Taïeb, founder of the paris restaurant-Kong – and the designer Philippe Starck have signed a lease with Ivanhoe Cambridge, a real estate subsidiary of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec to install a hotel, a restaurant and a bar with a panoramic view, at the top of the smaller tower Duo, says the newspaper Les Echos.

 

“They are associated with Philippe Stark and had planned to get closer to the group AccorHotels”, reports, Tuesday, 8 August, Marie-Eve Raux, director of development and project management for the Europe of Ivanhoé Cambridge, interviewed by the same newspaper.

 

The owner of the towers of 180 and 122 meters high, which will be erected in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, has not given further details on the duration and conditions of the lease.

 

According to Les Echos, the future hotel will be under the luxury brand MGallery by Sofitel and will have 139 rooms spread between the 17th and the 24th floor.

 

96.100 m2 of offices and a hotel of 12,000 m2

 

Recall that after a long fight legal, conducted in particular by the association Monts 14, the developer, Ivanhoe Cambridge was organized, may 18, 2017, the “groundbreaking ceremony” of the two towers Duo. In his turn Jean Nouvel, had stressed that he wanted to “play with the reflections, day or night. (…) The slight inclination of the Duo will go and look for these games to optic and to multiply the images in motion. The towers look as if they were passing the head through the window to look at the perspective of the avenue de France. And they will dialogue, like two dancers in balance who care about their environment.”

 

The work now committed by Vinci Construction will accelerate in the context of a delivery in 2021.
