The tools and materials in the CONSTRUCTION industry confirmed the recovery in the 1st half of 2017

The economic sectors related to the investment of the companies confirm the progression of their turnover in the first half of the year, whether it’s tooling, materials of CONSTRUCTION/handling, or industrial engines. Encouraging prospects to confirm, according to the Ficime.
Alain Rosaz, recently re-elected head of the Federation of international companies from the mechanical and the electronic (Ficime), which includes no fewer than 12 trade unions, importers and distributors, has reasons to be satisfied. According to the barometer of the 1st semester of the year 2017, its members have found a “significant recovery in the activity of sectors related to the investment“. “They have all progressed over the course of this semester, sometimes strongly, “said the federation, which continues : “On average, the turnover showed a rise of +8.5 per cent“.

It is clear that business investment has been high, in spite of the end of the device suramortissement in the month of April, helped by continued low interest rate environment, an improvement in margins, the continuation of the tax credit (CICE) and by positive growth prospects, in particular in the building. This sector of the materials of CONSTRUCTION and handling , in particular, has increased greatly in value during the first six months of the year (+22 %). For the second half of the year, the outlook remains good, with growth expected of +4.5% on the 2nd semester. The Ficime note : “orders are expected to increase to 6 in 10 companies, as well as the number for 4 in 10 companies (stable for more than half of them)“. More in detail, the materials of CONSTRUCTION/handling should still see their sales grow (+9 %), with a strong level of orders taken. The activity of the hand-held electrical tools and green areas will be good also (+5,5 %), “with an order book that is positively oriented for 7 companies out of 10“. Industrial engines anticipate also an increase (+7 %), while businesses related to the e-pro will see their growth start to slow down (+3 % and +2 % for the repackaging it). Alain Rosaz, chairman of the Ficime, analysis : “Our sector is a testament to the recovery and the swelling wave of the economy and hopes of a continuation of this dynamic in almost all areas related to business investment. If measures supporting the activity (CICE, suramortissement Macron, finished last April), it is a movement of substance that we are witnessing and the need to support“.

The general meeting of June 15, 2017 unanimously re-elected Alain Rosaz, for a third term of three years. The person concerned is itself a member of the general assembly of the Medef, vice-president, Euro Commerce, treasurer of the Board of Trade of France, member of the executive board of the Confederation of Wholesale & International (CGI).
The members of the executive committee of the Ficime have also been renewed : Olivier Humbaire (chairman of the Secimavi) in the position of 1st vice-president, Françoise Rausch (JCB) to the position of vice-president, treasurer, Norbert Haté (Mettler-Toledo), Laurent Mitais (Also France), Jean-Marie Osdoit (Volvo CE), Alexander Thorn (Stihl) and Jean Perrière.
