The fiber concrete ultra-high performance for the campus EDF Saclay




INNOVATION. Delivered in late 2015 and open since last September, the new campus EDF stands on the plateau of Saclay (Essonne) by its “block laminate” and its façade panels one-piece. Architects Emmanuel Combarel and Dominique Marrec have opted for a fiber concrete ultra-high performance (UHPC), which covers the six-story training.
On the plateau de Saclay Palaiseau (Essonne), the all-new campus EDF, delivered at the end of 2015 and open for September 2016, arouses the joy of the 15,000 employees trained each year. Performed in “a single block laminate”, by the architects Emmanuel Combarel and Dominique Marrec of the paris agency (ECDM), the campus EDF, can be seen in the neighbourhood of the Ecole polytechnique, installed on the shelf since 1976. He has an intimate knowledge, in fact, the four cylindrical buildings of the Centre for Research & Development (R&D) of 52.000 m2, to be delivered in 2016, by the architect Francis Soler.

Moreover, the ex-president of EDF, Henri Proglio, had said in June 2012, during the presentation of the project : “EDF has a strong tradition of training. We’ve revived the momentum in 2010 through the signing of an agreement ‘Challenge training’, signed by all trade union organizations. The campus, Edf will be the platform of the social ambition of the group.”
