The administration published a typology of building sites asbestos removal

STUDY. A document produced by the Dares is focused on the number of building sites asbestos removal carried out in France, over a year, and on their nature. Details.
The direction of the animation of research, studies and statistics (Dares) has recently published a survey on the sites of removal of asbestos. It follows in particular that 25,000 yards of asbestos were held in France, on the year 2015. This figure has been reached by a statistical method, on the basis of statements made in April-June 2016 by sixty units controls of the labour inspectorate. “This diagnosis is supported by the fact that the nombvre of sites as well estimated is close to the evaluations calculated previously by the DGT,”notes the author of the study, Karim Moussallam. This work had been requested by the ministry of Labour, for several reasons : to assess the relative importance of the work that is most empoussiérants, estimate the areas of activity and types of materials involved, and provide a basis for strengthening the regulation.


Several other lessons are to be learned from this investigation. As a result, 80% of building sites asbestos removal relate to buildings, 20% of the buildings of great height and ERP. The collective habitat is 8% of the sites, and industry 11%. The most common procedure is the removal of materials asbestos containing : encapsulation concerns only 1% of the sites. The fifth of the operations of removal of asbestos is prior to demolition.

What is the nature of the goods asbestos containing collected ? “Asbestos-cement is the first material that will be treated by the asbestos removal, it is involved in 80% of the shipyards”, noted the author. “The plaster, flocking, and paint are involved in nearly 23% of the sites. Waste asbestos containing are present in 8%, and asphalt road asbestos containing are treated in 1% of the building.”


Finally, the study provides information on the localization of products, which are also divided between the interior and the exterior of the frame. Thus, 8% of the projects are related to civil engineering outside (pipes, roads, tunnels, railways).
