Technal offers a cloud-based aluminum signed Kengo Kuma

It is a tradition. At each of its investments at BATIMAT, Technal entrusts the attainment of his stand with a big name in the architecture. A tradition to which the industrial share for the edition 2017 of the living room. After Jean Nouvel, Jean-Michel Wilmotte Norman Foster, Anne Lacaton and Jean-Phlippe Vassal, Jacques Ferrier still Manuelle Gautrand – to name a few -, this is the very famous Kengo Kuma, award-winning including in 2016 in the framework of the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture, which will convert to the year.


Modules like stalactites


The project consists of, as he explained during a press conference held at the Pavillon de l’arsenal, in Paris, Thursday, may 18, in a “cloud of aluminum”. Specifically, he envisioned a self-supporting structure made up of modules, the triangular combination of aluminium tubes 40 mm diameter and wires of stainless steel. Like stalactites, they will float on the top of the stand, forming a skin to the light, air and poetic. “A balance is created between the two types of force : compression of the tubes, on the one hand, and the tension of the wires, on the other hand,” says the architect. Advantage of this construction system are : its modularity, it can in fact be multiplied at will, and thus to take of varying proportions.
