THE SUSTAINABLE CITY. Once wedged between pathways SNCF and an urban motorway, an area of the port of Marseille is now changing thanks to a project of eco-development. The first buildings of the Smartseille come to be opened and bring together the various technical solutions adapted to the specificity of the mediterranean. Explanations with Hervé Gatineau, the director of real Estate major projects, Eiffage Immobilier Méditerranée.
The area of the Droppings, on the port of Marseille, and operates a return to nature. This former industrial wasteland, wedged between pathways SNCF and the A55 motorway, it is fast becoming welcoming neighborhood where 4,000 people will come – eventually – to live and work. Named Smartseille, this project of more than 2.7 hectares is located to the north of the euro-Mediterranean region, along the dry docks. Located 700 metres from the built front of the city, he is a pioneer and should bring to its residents, all the amenities and comfort possible. Hervé Gatineau, director-real Estate large projects for Eiffage Immobilier Méditerranée, said : “This is a green neighborhood in typical mediterranean whose founding concepts are ‘Low Cost – Easy Tech’, that is to say that innovation will remain subject to the investment cost and operating expenses remain tightly controlled, and that the grip will have to be simple“.
