“Reinventing Paris 2” : 34 sites selected for showcasing the sub-soil




The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, has unveiled the 23 may, at the Pavillon of the Arsenal, the 34 sites selected for the call for projects “Reinventing Paris 2”. This edition is dedicated to the basements of the capital. Details.
Rebuild the underbelly of Paris in all its states, this is the new goal of Anne Hidalgo. A year after it was revealed the 22 winners of the call for proposals for projects “Reinventing Paris”, the mayor of the capital was unveiled at the Pavilion of the Arsenal, on 23 may, with great fanfare, the 34 selected sites in the context of the season 2 of the international contest.

 

“Exploring the sub-soil parisians”

 

This second edition, driven by Jean-Louis Missika, deputy mayor in charge of Urban planning and Architecture, has the special characteristic of”exploring the potential of sub-soils” parisians in the presence of planners, developers, architects and social landlords. Among the partners who have agreed to be open to this “original method development included EFIDIS, Paris Habitat, Renault, RIVP and the SNCF.

 

“The caves are essentially seen as service areas and delegation”, says Jean-Louis Missika. “Necessary for the operation of Paris, via transportation networks, sewerage, heating, parking garages or cellars, they are often hidden and under-used. (…) We want to bring verticality and depth to the metropolis !”

 

“Today, I do not hear the déclinologues, who claimed that the city was in the process of falling asleep”, said the mayor, Anne Hidalgo. “Two years after the first call for projects in cities, below Paris are also a wealth of amazing. We can’t go.”

 

To a jury of selections in the fall of 2018

 

The organization of the call for projects “Reinventing Paris 2” are comparable to the first edition. In the wake of the unveiling of the sites selected by the mayor of Paris, architects and developers are invited to form teams and to submit an expression of interest.

 

The events of interest may be delivered until the 15th of November next. A first selection will take place in early 2018 while the jury selections will announce the results in the fall of 2018.
