Charles-de-Gaulle Express : the european Union says yes

The european Commission has approved, on 26 June 2017, with the help of 1.3 billion euros that France intends to make to the draft express link between the airport of Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport and the gare de l’est, in the centre of the capital.
It’s official, France will be able to support the project, CDG Express thanks in an envelope in the amount of 1.3 billion euros. The european Commission approved this plan of assistance that will be granted to the SNCF Network and the Airports of Paris (AdP) in order to facilitate their investment.

Recall that the direct binding of 32 km from the airport Charles-de-Gaulle airport and the centre of the capital will be done in about twenty minutes, compared to over fifty currently. It is expected that the trains run from 5 a.m. to midnight, with a departure every quarter of an hour. The project is presented as being of strategic importance for the obtaining of the olympic Games of 2024.

Two groups have focused candidates for its operations : RATP-Keolis and Transdev-Mirova-Demeter of the other. The ticket price is currently set at 24 euros, which is less expensive than a taxi (flat rate of 45 €), but more expensive than a bus ride (11,5 €). The reimbursement of the aid received will be funded, in part, by this post, but also by the levy of a tax of 1.40 € maximum, on all passengers passing through the airport platform.


It is expected that the ministry of Transport refers to the group winner by the end of 2018, so that the work can start quickly and the system enters service at the end of 2023. The two associations have filed an appeal before the State Council at the beginning of the month of June, to oppose to its realization. They denounce its “uselessness, “its “disproportionate cost“, and “the impairment of the proper functioning of the carriage of passengers on local lines and regional” in which the line B of the RER, while also suggesting a line of rich, carefully avoiding the suburbs.
