A former hotel room turns into a studio of 27 m2

BEFORE/AFTER. In an old parisian hotel, a room still in her juices was offered a second life. Result : a studio of 27m2 dusted, functional and surface-optimized. And all of this for on a tight budget of 30,000 euros.
In this small studio of 27m2 for rent, the site was of size. “The goal was to make it an apartment and not just a room. You can eat there, do the cooking etc”, explains Alix Delclaux, architect and interior decorator in charge of the work. But also offer a space for the everyday life. To achieve this, we had to reduce the size of the bathroom so as to enlarge the main room, incorporate storage space, optimise the surface, to reuse wasted space, modernize the property and make it functional.


A tight budget


Extensive program for a limited budget of 30,000 euros. It was therefore necessary to be malignant. “It was 30.000 euros all included, even the decoration. The choice of materials has therefore been limited. For example, in the bathroom, we installed tile in metro for less than 10 euros m2. Then tile imitation tile cement in the toilet area, because much cheaper”, says Alix Delclaux. Some items have been unearthed, such as the skin of a beast in the living room.
