On the occasion of the next festival of the forest and of the wood, a call for projects was launched for the construction of a house made entirely of wood. Candidates have until October 9, 2017 to file their folder. Details.
For the 2nd edition of the festival of forest and wood, the theme of which is “construction and innovation”, the domaine de la Bourdaisière is launching in partnership with the ONF, France Bois Forêt and Arbocentre a call for projects to make a house 100% wood. “Floor-to-ceiling, passing by the furniture, insulation materials or even the roof… Everything in this house must be composed of wood and its derived products,” explain the organizers.
For this project appeal, which is addressed to both “master-builders, self-taught, students, engineers, and architects“, the candidates will have to offer a housing composed of a ground floor and a floor and a surface area greater than or equal to 36 m2. This construction will need to be removable, transportable and not exceed a budget of 150 000 euros. For Louis Albert de Broglie, owner of the domain of the Bourdaisière (Indre-et-Loire), “in the modernity of a project that challenges the received ideas of some, the creation of a house 100% wood, will symbolize the model of intelligence in the wood industry of our country“.
The jury, composed of experts, will judge both the process of creation, the choice of materials and construction techniques selected. The organizers indicate that the winner will be able to realize free of charge his house 100 % wood during the 3rd edition of the festival, in October 2018.
